Brochures, marketing, promotion, new collaboration with major entities that bring in people, shop local campaign, foster and promote the positive aspects of living, working, and playing in the Cloquet Area.

Tourism Committee Mission: To generate economic activity during periods of available opportunity, with a focus on generating overnight lodging in Cloquet.

2010 GOAL: To support the Cloquet Area Tourism and Visitors Information Center, and to focus on the following commitments and strategies.

Tourism Commitments
* Participate in the promotion of the St. Louis Trail connection of Munger Trail from Carlton to Cloquet. 
* Continue to work with the Carlton County Historical Society to effectively market the historical aspects of our community. 
* Administer the grant program to assist in marketing of selected local events. Examples of past grant recipients are the annual Classic Car Extravaganza, 4th of July Celebration, Wolf’s Head Motorcycle Rally, airport fly-in, and St. Louis River Rendezvous 
* Enhance and update the tourism web-site on a seasonal and continual basis. Track “hit” data for trends. 
* Market the Cloquet area through various advertising venues that reach the general public outside of our Cloquet region such as Explore Minnesota/website advertising, snowmobile magazines, tourism publications and other captive media that reaches potential visitors and meets our budget. 
* Attend the northeast Minnesota tourism quarterly meetings and/or the Explore MN conference. 
* Continue to support brochures and tourist information for Cloquet such as the walking and hiking brochures, maps, coupons, relocation packets, etc. 
* Update the area residents and Chamber members on the Tourism opportunities and efforts through the Chamber Newsletter, web-site and year end review. 
* Support & work with CAHA to promote the hockey venue, encourage a major hockey tournament in the Cloquet area.

** To promote tourism in our city, county and region, enhance tourism expenditures in our local economy, and promote local attractions and events.
