In and effort to help travelers avoid the Duluth Megaproject on their way north, the Grand Marais Area Tourism Association is encouraging the thousands of summer tourists to go around Duluth by taking Hwy 33 through Cloquet, up to Hwy 53, then through the Superior National Forest on CR 16, to connect to Hwy 61 in Silver Bay.
This they call, the Scenic SCENIC Route. Visit www.grandmarais.com/scenicroute/ for maps, games, trivia and videos that are helping travelers slow down a bit, and enjoy the splendor of our great state, while avoiding the dreaded orange cones.

September 18th, 2010 - Big River Brewfest - 4-8 pm - Sample over 80 beers supplied by 25 brewers and distributors. An outdoor event in a 40'X100' tent with food vendors and two live bands. A benefit for disabled veterans at "Veterans on the Lake" in Ely, MN.
September 25th, 2010 - Cloquet River Run 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Run/Walk, The Cloquet Educational Foundation (CEF) will be hosting a Pasta and Salad Feed on Friday, Sept 24th from 4:00PM – 7:00PM in the Churchill Elementary School Cafeteria.
