Mission: Keep Chamber Members informed of public affairs and local, state and national governmental issues of importance.

2010 GOAL: Promote and advocate for the MN Chamber’s Business Day at the Capitol, encouraging Chamber members to participate and aligning resources to strengthen our legislative voice.

Legislative Affairs Commitments:
? Organize and participate in the Minnesota Chamber’s Business Day at the Capitol event annually and encourage additional participation.
? Review and make recommendations concerning the Minnesota Chamber’s Federation Partnership and Legislative Policy positions.
? Co-host election forums with CAT-7 and other media as needed to keep Chamber Members and the community informed of local, regional and state elections.
? Support for both trail funding and State designation of the St. Louis River Trail connecting the Munger trail in Carlton to Cloquet in a three phase process.
? Represent the Chamber business community on public policy that will have an impact on our area and on Chamber members.
? Participate in the appropriate MN Chamber sponsored events such as: Session Priorities Dinner, MN Chamber Annual Meeting, Regional Policy Meetings etc.
? Poll the members on issues that affect our business community and publish the results.
? Continually focus on committee growth and recruitment efforts.
? Encourage qualified candidates to seek public office.
